Shortly after 12:30 a.m. this morning Folsom Police Officers and Folsom Fire Personnel responded to east bound Blue Ravine Road 1/10 of a mile west of Big Valley Road, where the roadway bends north towards El Dorado County.

Neighbors in the area had called to report a single vehicle, major injury collision. When officers arrived they found a 2005 Toyota Tacoma 4×4 up a small hillside, in a field, having sheared a telephone pole to the ground before coming to rest upright. Inside the vehicle were a driver and his two male passengers, moderately to seriously injured. Responding Officers said there was evidence that alcohol was a factor in the collision.

The driver had to be extracted from the heavily damaged truck by Folsom Fire, and was transported by helicopter to an area hospital. The passengers where transported by ambulance with moderate injuries.

Investigators from the Folsom Police Department’s Major Accident Response Team (M.A.R.T.) are investigating the accident. Master Officer Tim Galovich said preliminarily that unsafe speed and wet weather conditions played a factor in the collision.
