Members from the California Fiber Artists organization will be presenting a broad range of stimulating and thought provoking fiber art at the next exhibit at the Gallery at 48 Natoma in Folsom. The theme of this juried show will feature text and textural empahsis. Whether the reference to text represents a common form of textual presentaion, such as a book, scroll, or banner, or a reference to classical literature, the artists will use an interesting variety of fiber art forms. The exhibit opens January 21 and continues through March 10, 2011.
The California Fiber Artists (CFA) is a group of independent fiber artists who have joined their collective works together forming exhibitions and diverse fiber art. CFA artists describe their work as fusion art using fiber as well as other mediums to develop texture, shape, design and color. The artists reconstruct fiber with dye, paint, and wire to develop their images. The final step, stitching through the layers of fiber, brings depth of their artwork that mere paint cannot. Collage and other three-dimensional work have been created to inject their exhibits with some sculptural elements as well as to showcase the artists’ versatility.
During the same time, the California Fiber Artists will also be continuing their exhibit throughout the Community Gallery at 48 Natoma. The opening reception will be held on Friday, January 21, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Live music and refreshments will be provided.
The artists’ reception and the exhibit are free and open to the public and art is available for purchase. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm with additional hours on some week nights and Saturdays. Please call the gallery for holiday, evening and weekend hours.
