Holiday Classic 5k Blends Festive Running With Giving

Folsom runners and walkers can head to Sacramento this Sunday for the Holiday Classic 5K, where every step supports Salvation Army Christmas aid.

The Salvation Army and Fleet Feet will host the 2025 Fleet Feet Holiday Classic 5K at Glenn Hall Park, 5415 Sandburg Drive, Sacramento. Registration opens at 8:00 a.m., with the race starting at 9:00 a.m.

Organisers describe the Holiday Classic 5K as more than a run. Participants often dress in Santa hats, jingle bells and full holiday outfits, turning the event into a moving Christmas parade through the park.

Toys For Angel Tree

Every entrant is encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy. The Salvation Army will use those toys for its Angel Tree program, which helps bring Christmas morning to families in need throughout Sacramento.

“Fleet Feet has been a tremendous partner, helping us connect with the community in a joyful and active way,” said Major Peter Pemberton, a Sacramento Salvation Army officer. He says events like the Holiday Classic 5K show how local businesses can act as champions for good when many families struggle.

Salvation Army Canteen

Race-day support includes The Salvation Army canteen on site with coffee and donuts, along with volunteers helping collect toys and cheer on runners and walkers.

People who cannot attend the Holiday Classic 5K can still support The Salvation Army’s Christmas work. They can donate online at iGiveWithJoy.org, give at a neighborhood red kettle, or back a local Virtual Red Kettle at VirtualRedKettle.org. Families and groups can also choose to support the Angel Tree program in their own community.

By joining or supporting the Holiday Classic 5K, Sacramento-area residents, including those from Folsom, help The Salvation Army deliver toys and hope to local children this Christmas.
