Visual & Performing Arts Center Media Opening
The Folsom Lake College Regional Visual & Performing Arts Center was opened for a special media day. The Center aims to nurture the next generation of performing artists; to open up a world of culture to the region and to present the best in live performances from diverse traditions and disciplines.
Fundamental elements to the vision of the center are artistic excellence, quality education and public accessibility. Funding for the center included Local and State bond funds earmarked for this project by the Los Rios Community College District and a $4.3 million capital campaign conducted by the Folsom Lake College Foundation.
Approximately $44 million was spent in the construction phase, with the total budget being $50 million.
The Center is beautiful, as you will see in the videos below, and the program for the first year is a delight. The Center officially opens in February next year and is known as the “Three Stages Regional Performing Arts Center.”
Dr Thelma Scott-Skillman, founding president of Folsom Lake College, introduced Dr Brice Harris.
Dr Scott-Skillman said “we are pleased to introduce to the Folsom Community, ‘Three Stages,’ the Visual & Performing Arts Center.”
The facility has been in the making for nine years.
