Each year, the Sacramento Chapter of the Sons Of The American Revolution holds a Community Awards Banquet. This year it is at the Cattlemens Restaurant, 12409 Folsom Blvd., Rancho Cordova (take the Hazel Avenue exit off Hwy 50), on Friday, October 18, 2013, beginning at 7:00 PM. SAR members, their wives, family, and guests are always welcome. Doors open at 6:15 p.m.
As they say: “Come early and stay late.”
This is the fifth year honoring members of the community whose significant achievements contributed to the well being of the greater Sacramento region and beyond. They will honor individuals from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, Sacramento Police Department and K9 Unit, Sacramento Metro Fire District, and for the first time, a Wounded Warrior injured in Afghanistan.
A Hero Award goes to “Bodie” the Sacramento Police K9 that was shot twice apprehending a car thief, and the Wounded Warrior is Jonathan T Allen of Folsom, a US Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician injured in Afghanistan in August 2012.
Keynote Speaker
The October keynote speaker is Igor Birman, who was appointed in 2009 by U.S. Representative Tom McClintock as his Chief of Staff. Mr. Birman was tasked with managing operations of the Congressional office, serving as senior policy and strategy advisor. Birman was then the youngest Chief of Staff on Capitol Hill.
Early reservations, beginning now, are encouraged.
Call Don Littlefield directly at 916-985-6544 and leave a message that sets out the number of individuals attending, their names, and menu selections. The menu choices are: ribeye steak, grilled salmon, teriyaki chicken, or pesto/spinach cheese ravioli. Meals are $24.00 each, paid at the door. Pay by check payable to “SAR Sacramento Chapter” and have it made out in the correct amount, dated, and signed, prior to leaving home. Cash is always an option. Credit Cards are not accepted. If the calling committee has not contacted you by Noon, Wednesday, October 16, please call Don at 985-6544.
Volunteers Needed
Don’t be a spectator… participate! The organization needs volunteers, the more volunteers the less of a burden each one carries. This is your opportunity to head a committee, become an officer, or just help out in the best way you can. It’s more fun and you get to be a part of a great team. Talk, email, or phone any officer and let us know your interest.
