Folsom City Manager Kerry Miller today announced the appointment of Ron Phillips as Fire Chief, effective immediately.  Chief Phillips has served as Folsom’s Deputy Fire Chief since 2005.  He replaces former Chief Dan Haverty, who retired in October.

“We had a stellar crop of candidates and Chief Phillips successfully competed against some of the best talent in the state,” said Miller.  “It is always a gratifying to be able to promote highly qualified internal candidates who prevail in a competitive selection process.”

Chief Phillips has 31 years of fire service experience.  He joined the City of Folsom in 2002 as Fire Marshal, was promoted to Deputy Fire Chief in 2005, and has served as Acting Fire Chief during the recruitment process.  Previously, he was Deputy Fire Marshal for the City of Roseville, Fire Inspector for the City of El Cajon, and a fire fighter for the Camp Pendleton Fire Department in Oceanside and the United States Forest Service in Arcadia.

A resident of Folsom, Chief Phillips will receive an annual salary of $168,000.
