The 2nd annual NorCal Sings! competition begin in February, 2011 throughout Northern California with seven preliminary venues.

The competition is open to a variety of ages and genres, starting at 7 years old and continuing to 50+ (Our 30+ Rock/Pop/Country winner last year was 84 years young!). There are also numerous categories, including Rock/Pop/Country, Musical Theater, Rap/R&B/Gospel and Classical/Opera. Grand Prize winners receive a prize package valued at $2,500 and that could go even higher depending on enrollment.

Extra performances are planned for top finishers, such as a return engagement at the California State Fair in July. This event benefits VH1’s Beyond the Music Foundation.

This year’s event is presented by: FirstStep Event Marketing, Young Actors Theater Camp, Perfect Sounds DJ and Lynn Greene Photography. Sponsors include Wells Fargo, Borders Books, Coca Cola Sacramento, Just gotta Sing!, All-World Sports Memorabilia, API Limousine and Prototypz online.

Norcal SingsThere is a reasonable one-time tryout fee ($39 before December 31, 2010, $49 as of January 1, 2011) and all advancement is free of charge. Discounted tryout fees before December 31, 2010 also include a FREE re-try if you are not chosen to advance.

Petaluma, Sacramento, Roseville, El Dorado Hills, Pleasanton, San Francisco and Chico are all tryout venues this coming year. There are limited tryout slots available in each venue.
